On the other side of the aisle, Democrats are focusing on what comes next under a second Trump presidency.

Senior correspondent Brenda Flanagan spoke with several progressive groups about their concerns over issues like abortion, access and the promises of mass deportations of immigrants.

You can expect a return to furious rallies like these in response to Trump 2.0.

Women marched on Washington and across New Jersey after Donald Trump's first inauguration over fears he'd assault abortion rights.

He did via the Supreme Court, which overturned Roe with a second Trump term looming, the phones ringing off the hook at the Cherry Hill Women's Center, where one in four patients comes from out of state.

And so many of those calls were just, can I keep my appointment?

Can I still come in?

And this will be so last time and urgency.

Can I come in sooner?

Know people deserve to have the time that they need to make this complex decision.

So now this political urgency, you know, is putting even more pressure on.

Progressive advocates fear for New Jersey's status as a sanctuary state for patients seeking reproductive health care clinics could face cuts in federal funding and quite possibly a national abortion ban.

They'll look to state lawmakers for funding and legal protection.

There are people who are going to be fighting back to make sure that we can say here that they can get what they need regardless of the legal landscape.

Unfortunately, if there is a federal piece of legislation, a federal abortion ban that would impact New Jersey, that would supersede our state law and the constitutional protections from our case law that we have here.

So we're continuing to fight at Planned Parenthood, actually in New Jersey, for the reproductive freedom and Health Equity bill package to try and find out more protections and do that as soon as possible.

Social media reacted to the president elect's promise to deport millions of immigrants using military resources and his threat against sanctuary states like New Jersey.

Advocates remember protesting Trump's Muslim travel ban in 2017, which the president elect has said he'll expand to include Palestinians.

We've had folks who are flooding our hotline, folks who are flooding our communities.

Senators asking what this means for their immigration case, asking if they should expect massive deportations as soon as this week end.

We have a responsibility now to build a multiracial, working class majority that says that we're not going to take it.

Morsi says they'll fight to defend immigrants, including Dreamers brought to the U.S. as kids and living here under the DACA program.

Thousands joined an online rally Wednesday night.

If Donald Trump and his MAGA loyalists wanted us to come into this next phase of the struggle disoriented and without a plan.

The sheer numbers of people here and the mobilizing power it represents says something different.

And so we know immediately where we're going to have to make sure that we defend our immigrants here in New Jersey.

I think that we need to use all the levers at our disposal.

All right.

Now to safeguard communities that are going to be, frankly, the most at risk against political attacks.

New Jersey working families will co-host a rally tomorrow at noon in Jersey City.

Attorney General Matt Platkin tweeted, If President Trump uses his position to unlawfully attack the rights of New Jersey residents, I will see him in court with the LGBTQIA community protected by New Jersey's law against discrimination.

The election signaled a dangerous shift.

When you look at that map and see so much red, it speaks to us to say like, where do we feel safe?

Where will we be safe?

Brielle Winslow Majette says.

Advocates are fielding calls, particularly from trans folks will feel more vulnerable than ever.

And so it's not about whether they're coming for us.

It's about how soon will some of the things that Donald Trump has already said he wants to do take place and where do we go or how do we continue to fight and galvanize to make sure that that doesn't happen?

Advocates say they'll stay politically active and work next year to elect a new governor who will keep New Jersey a safe sanctuary.
